Here we are. Here we go.
Haven't had time or been in the mood to update lately. I thought I'd just unleash a bunch of my thoughts these days so I can document the latest happenings. I believe I'm going to close up this blog. I'm going to start a new one to mark a fresh new beginning but as to keeping it up? Who knows...
Ellie and I are both chugging along, figuring out things as we go. Ellie's personality shows more and more each day. She's curious, funny and as stubborn as they come! Giggy and I have figured out (thankfully!) that if we take away her nap, she goes to bed about 7. MUCH better than staying up til 11 making all in the house very unhappy and exhausted! Now I'm able to get my school work done and am working in time to work out a bit. May even try the half marathon again at the end of summer! Maybe.
Ellie is "talking" a bit more which is very exciting! She's trying to say words now which is such a huge improvement. Other than approximations of bath, mama, ball and "boo"/pacifier she now attempts family member names, eat, meow, neigh-neigh, soap, several colors, "Momo"/Elmo and poo-poo (which we think is diaper) with regularity. She is still signing words such as snowing, dirty, chair, table, baby, juice, carrot, cookie, carrot, pear, bus and many others. Ellie is a little copycat and once she sees you do something...well let's just hope you don't mind her doing the same! She's dragging her own stepstool or chair to the kitchen counter, insists that room doors and dishwasher doors need to be closed, prefers to handle her own books when read to, is impatient as heck when she thinks it's dinnertime - even if she's just eaten. The microwave timer went off tonight although I was using the stove and she tried to open the microwave door. Yes, I am trying to use the stove more. Obviously I'm handier with the microwave! Anyway, the smoke alarm went off (yeah, I know!) and she grabbed the dishtowel to wave it at the smoke alarm. Smart little girl! She is a little tattletale on the dogs and will scold them appropriately. She puts her hands over her ears when I listen to anything but her kid music or classical music in the car. What's up with that?! She loves foam soap, kisses animals on their noses, and dotes on her big cousin, K. I love my Ellie Bean to pieces. I'm exhausted and frustrated and crazed but I'm so very, very lucky to have her as my daughter. I was listening to her breathe last night (ok, snort as she has a cold!) and I realized how I am simply amazed, scared and thrilled at how my life has changed with her in it. No more just looking at the moon imagining her. She's here laughing, ordering me around, giving me wet and snotty kisses, acting as my constant shadow, making messes one after the next, cheesing away while showing her sweet dimples, hiding things in closets and running full speed ahead.
I just signed a contract for her full time preschool next year. She'll be going 7:30 til 3:00ish- such a big girl! Currently I am trying to figure out state re-adoption to make sure all legal aspects of the adoption are airtight - where are the step by step directions?! And for those of you that have wondered, my boyfriend and I broke up around New Year's- different paths and all.
This weekend, Ellie, my niece K and I are going to celebrate Chinese New Year with the local F@milies with Children from Chin@. Last year we were the newbies and now we have Ella and Julianna joining us! The CC@@ (or as it is now called C2A2 in blogland!)is still taking forever and a day with referrals. There continues to be much speculation about whether the program will continue or move to just special needs. Most agencies no longer are taking applications. In the meantime I am still counting down with a few more blog friends! Polar Be@r is next or next to next for her Polar Cub!
Before I sign off, I want to send loving thoughts to another friend who I met through the adoption process. Please stop by Joannah's site and send your thoughts and prayers to her and her husband, Michael. Treatments fighting his cancer have been unsuccessful. They are such a beautiful couple. Her faith and love is amazing and together, his fight has been valiant.
Off to do some homework. Thank you for following all this time.

Reading a Valentine's Day card. She's got more hair these days, doesn't she? The Bean hates getting her hair and nails cut. Guess I will save lots of money when she is older! =)
